Happy Teachers' Day

Teachers's Day celebration is near and the notice is already up in our staff room. The sad thing is, the school will not come out with any single cent for this celebration. We will have to collect money and buy gifts for ourselves.Teachers complained that they feel unappreciated and some even refused to contribute some money thinking that the school should take some money from the PTA savings. Oh well...I do understand how frustrated the teachers were, especially when they have worked so hard to teach the students.
Listening to all these ramblings and frustrations, I decided to jump in. Today, I bought a few stuff with the total cost of RM7.30. I will spend two p&p periods to ask my students to create and design teachers' day cards to all the teachers teaching them. At least teachers will feel that they are appreciated right? It's the thought that counts.

Great idea to let the students design and make Teacher appreciation cards!
In my hometown in the Ph., we used to have Teachers'Day on Valentine's Day and we let the students prepare everything with the teachers' supervision of course. This is also the time when school administration gives a gift to some teachers who have the longest time in service.
I could understand your colleagues' frustration. The teachers effort should at least be rewarded on this day.

Allowing children to be creative with written expression is a wonderful way to encourage. Mine have always loved making cards.
